A taste of jazz/commercial dance, acting and how to survive the audition experience: Kristina & Alexis will take students through an audition process, exploring each dancer’s ability to present themselves confidently in the audition room.
Following a group warm-up, dancers will learn a movement phrase, loosen up with some acting games, and then be taken through a mock audition. Q & A with the guest instructors to follow.
Kristina Linden
Born and raised in Vancouver, Kristina began performing at a young age and soon developed apassion for the stage. She was seen as a principle tap dancer in the Opening Ceremonies for the 2010Winter Olympics and has been an opening act for American recording artist, Mya. Television credits include: The X- Files, Hellcats, Once Upon a Time, and Psych.
Theatre credits include: Graziella in West Side Story (Vancouver Playhouse – Troy Mclaughlin’s Dance Works), Singin’ in the Rain and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Tuts), Anything Goes (Metro), 42nd Street and West Side Story(RCMT), featured tap dancer in the Vancouver Spring Show (Queen Elizabeth Theatre).
Kristina is currently the Artistic Director of TapCo, a company based out of the Vancouver Tap Dance Society and and has been a faculty member for the Vancouver International Tap Dance Festival.
Having studied education in University, Kristina is a passionate dancer, choreographer, and teacher who shares her love for performing and creating every chance she gets!
Alexis’ journey in dance and the performing arts started in Alberta then led to further training in Vancouver, Toronto, Los Angeles and New York.
For over 20 years, her career in the performing arts has seen her both on and off the international stage as a dancer, choreographer, instructor and adjudicator.
She has had the privilege to work with many great artists and organizations such as Terry Brock, Princess Cruise Lines, Legends Alive, Champagne Entertainment, David Atkins Enterprises of Australia (2010 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremonies with Michael Bublé), the Vancouver Whitecaps, the CFL’s BC Lions dance team, the Felions, the Vancouver Stealth’s dance team, the Bombshells, Taxi Vancouver on Translink’s Tap Happy campaign, Marathon Park Productions as well as numerous other local musical theatre and dance productions.
Currently Alexis can be found on set training dancers on a new TV series filming in Vancouver. She is also a regular adjudicator for various dance competitions held annually across Canada and is the coach and choreographer of the National Lacrosse League’s uber-talented Vancouver Warriors Dance Crew.
Alexis resides in Vancouver where she is recognized as an energetic and humorous instructor, sharing her experience and enthusiasm with dancers of all ages.
