Our Ballet classes are offered at all levels of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus as follows:
- Dance to Your Own Tune is the curriculum for children from 2.5 to 5 years. Click here for more information
The Graded syllabus (Pre-Primary in Dance, Primary in Dance and Grade 1 – 8) provides a broad practical dance education and develops technical, musical and performance skills (age 5+).
- Vocational Grades (Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1, Advanced 2) provides an in-depth study of ballet and prepares students for a career in dance (age 11+).
- Adult Ballet classes – including beginners pointe and pilates.
The following additional classes supplement your ballet training:
- PrePointe and Pointe classes – to build students strength to enable a safe transition to pointe and then build on their strength en pointe.
- Classical Open classes – for technique and artistry and to extend the students beyond just the syllabus work .
- Pilates classes – for both adults and students to supplement the ballet training building core strength.
- Contemporary Open classes – Contemporary dance is an import part of classical training as many ballet companies expect their dancers to have the ability and versatility to combine traditional classical and contemporary dance.
The aim is for students to work towards an exam, or class award. En Pointe will decided as to whether a student is ready to take an exam or class award. Whilst these exams/awards are not compulsory it does give the students a goal to work towards.
In addition all students that are entering exams in October will be required to attend exam week which is in the October school holidays and will comprise of a 1-2 hour per day ballet class in final preparation for the exam.
Private lessons are also available on request.
